I think they mustve been erdtree guardians. since the guardians in altus have big flowery plants growing out of their backs and bury themselves in the ground, this mightve been the result of deathroot reaching up into the soil that guardians have planted themselves in, leaving them exposed to it over long periods of time while they 'hibernated' or whatever theyre doing underground. it would also make the name "deracine" take on a more literal meaning since it means ''uprooted''

I love this game because it lets you feel like you're actually piloting a gundam.. I started in ac2 up to ac4 and just gave up there, ac4 have those extra weapons and the boss gangbang gets really annoying, like 3 minimum on a mission that you only have a limited ammo and hp vs 3 acs that can gun you down within a few seconds..
