I’m a big Dillian fan, but I think he should agree the rematch as it was closer to a draw than a win.

Whyte fought well but the scorecards were completely off! How on earth did the two judges award Whyte with the 116-112 points win!!????? I agree with the first judge, the fight was a draw.

I watched that fight near ringside, and it seemed a clear draw to me.
I was shocked by the two judges who gave such a wide margin to Whyte 😳

If the one fighter edges out in the championship rounds when you consider it a draw, then the fighter that won in the championship rounds won. That's usually how it works, if Franklin had taken the championship rounds he would've won. Ppl seem to not understand what the championship rounds are for.

I don't wanna hear no more wicked talk from Shyte! Absolutely shocking. Once again turns up and gives a 50% performance. No grit, no heart, did the same thing in every round & now making excuses about a new trainer. Lazy faker, mugging the fans 😏

As a boxing fan I watched this fight live , and to be fare, franklin and whyte was drawing in my opinion right up to the 9th round , it was so close it was unreal , franklin did hit more power shots after the 9th round but didn't connect fully , but I genuinely think whyte was getting more scoring punches after the 9th to secure the points victory, dont get me wrong Franklin did absolutely everything he could do and went toe to toe with whyte and he deserves the credit hes getting , but I believe whyte did what he had to do to get the victory, 💪🥊

I used to love watching Whyte fight but he appears to have lost that mean side. He was awful against Fury and he wasn’t much better tonight. I do hope he gives one last good performance before he decides to retire.

    • Marvin Eghan
Marvin Eghan 2 months ago +2

He can box and is using it. It still there to be super aggressive but wants to use boxing. Let him do what he feels. Needs some support. He always under so much criticism. That my assessment. He just came off a loss n he edged a win.

    • Raven Aussie
Raven Aussie 2 months ago +4

I honestly think part of his performance was due to Buddy McGirt. McGirt himself said he's never even seen Whyte fight and was giving him terrible advice in the corner. Told him to keep going in with the jab when Whyte was most effective when he was going all-out. And in the last round, he told him not to go for the knockout when that's exactly the opposite of what he should've done.
Whyte needs his old trainer back, as McGirt was terrible. It was when Whyte was throwing bombs that he was most effective. Fighters have bad nights, and I'm hoping this was one of them.

Joke scoring. You knew Franklin really had to score some knockdowns or knock him out to get a win on a Earn with Hearn card. Two judges who gave Whyte 4 rounds need their financials to be looked at, 💯 earned with Hearn tonight

  • Junior Johnson

The judges must have been blinded by that George Foreman arm crossed style to not give the win to Franklin?
Maybe that's what saved Whyte from defeat?

  • Andrew Cohen

I actually thought the fight was a draw. When Dillian fought to instructions he looked effective; however his punches coming out of the clinches were slow. He showed a vastly improved defence. Stop loading up and Dillian will be a formidable boxer. And finally, Eddie Hearn should stick to promoting and leave the trainer and fighters to to strategise and fight.

When Eddie is with his buddies, he will admit to the fact that Franklin rocked Dillian but he couldn't say it out loud during the post fight interview, he had to back his fighter, they'll laugh about this fight, because they know Dillian lost.

The least Eddie can do for the right of the boxing code, the very essence of the good old British
guile, give Franklin a go at Joshua next as his fight before white, I mean he did win, and it's quite obvious that dillan won't even consider a rematch, won't even contemplate the rematch, if he won as convincingly as he seems to think then give Franklin the rematch....

Listened to fight on Radio 5. Mcgirt was heard saying to Dillian in the last round don’t go for knockout just jab and move. All the commentary team felt he needed the knockout to win. Eddie needs the AJ fight and made it so if it went to the cards. Didn’t think he could go lower since Conor. This same plodding Dillian is who Fury fought. I think punishment has caught up with him, which is sad.

I think Franklin just fought a great fight. Dillian still has good fights out there for him. Let's see Dillian fight AJ and or Wilder. Those are huge money fights for Dillian. But to say that Dillian clearly beat and defeated Franklin just isn't true. Ultimately Dillian got the win and now can decide who he fights next but he shouldn't say he clearly won therefore why should he then have a rematch with Franklin.

I’m a Little Partial to the Brit. I Like Whyte. I’ll say this. It was Close. Someone made a Comment below Which was Spot On. Franklin Hit a Lot of Times on Whyte’s Gloves. Franklin was Active , However He Did Not Show Ring Generalship. He Never Really Controlled the Ring and Whyte Did and That Has a Big Part of Whyte Winning. It was No Robbery at All. Whyte Deserved the Win. Not Really Debatable. Whyte 75-85% Had Franklin Backing Up. That is Huge. You Cannot Give Ground to Your Opponent Like that and Expect the Judges to Side with You. Franklin is a Good Fighter and Can Be Great. He Needs to Hit the Weights and Replace that Baby Fat with AJ Muscle. When He Does that, LOOK OUT!!!

His best work was when he stopped listening to McGirt in the last 2 rounds, he's obviously a talented coach but it's a big ask to change and develope your style whwn you're a solid professional and 34, you can't change a fighter that's been in the game for that long. Dillians attributes are his aggression and the fact that he loves a tear-up. Hope they progress going forward. It's actually mad that Dillian criticised Anthony Joshua for trying to box Usyk, then basically did the same thing against Fury and now they are both changing coaches like it's a fucking competion

This level boxing is so corrupt now; dodgy decisions abound, months before fights get made, all the toing and froing and nowt gets done and all because of the wonga. It's gone worse than Premiership football.

I think Dilian could be more polite and professional when answering questions 😂
Relax, chat shit and etc ... You don't have to talk in that manner...
Buddy McGirt - at the first half of the fight, the way he interacted with Dilian... It felt like they didn't have connection together, but in the0 late rounds he was more passionate on giving instructions. Let's see how it goes for DW, but I am still not sure if they can work together for the success. I hope ...
It was a bit lame that we could hear Franklin's corner during time out, just once in the 12 round period.
    Good luck 🤞

You might have wanted the underdog to win but whyte won that fight, I would have liked a draw just to see it again but Franklin got beat.

Everyone on about a rematch it’s crazy to have a rematch, if every fighter had a rematch every time it was close on points you would never get to a belt. He could lose next one on points and either Franklin moves off into the sunset when it’s 1-1 or they have 3rd fight and that just eats the best part of 2 years and it’s not like they stadium paydays.
Good luck to dillian he’s got the decision and he moves on, he’s done enough grind to get a rub of the green on this one and he’s ducked nobody in his career so I got nothing but respect for him and wish him luck. 👍🏻🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Great fight by both fighters! Impressed with Dillian especially as his nephew got murdered during camp for this fight!

@ola Fawehinmi and what does he call his friend Dean. His brother Dean Whyte that happens to have the same last name as Dillian Whyte. He has never addressed Dean as his friend he has always addressed him as his brother.

His nephew did not get murdered. His friend Dean's son was murdered. Get your facts right.

I don't think so. Was really close, but late rounds dw really did better.
Don't forget, this was the first time Franklin went 12 rounds in his pro career as I understand. He defo will reflect and improve...
Also I didn't like that dazn didn't show much instructions of Franklin's corner. But could hear they are asking him to breathe all the time Lol
