AJ is probably my favorite heavyweight. The only knock I have against him is I’d love to see him getting better with his conditioning. He seems to tire toward the late rounds and it leaves him vulnerable for the very accurate Usyk to take advantage. Hope for a great fight and an AJ victory.

AJ has more than a puncher's chance against Usyk. He only fought with a wrong style last year and he also fought scared. Usyk is extremely talented but beatable and AJ is one of the few guys that can beat him if he isn't gun shy.

Joshua was overconfident last time and got humbled. This time, he's trying to be being realistic about his chances, but I bet he's been working hard. I think coming across as brash isn't his style. I think he knows he has a lot of skills, and with his current preparation, he will know the best way to use them this time, and may very well pull it off against the smaller man.

  • Andy S

As much as I love AJ, from that interview then “I will try my best”, “at the end of the day it’s all about who throws and lands the most punches” he does not sound confident at all about this fight.
Something tells me we will see him get outboxed again which will then ultimately be the end of him as he won’t come back a third time which will be a massive shame

KO, but brains beats power, its usually the unexpected punches that cause a KO.
Unless AJ has perfected liver punches with his left hand and has the speed or distance to avoid a flurry of counters I don't think it will go so well. He'll approach Usyk with aggression which will play in Usyk's nimble favour.

@Michael Didn't have intel? He would have studied loads of fights and was ringside for some.

AJ thinks that if he brings the heat and starts to FIGHT, he have a chance, while i think he has a chance, i also see that strategy a risky one, i believe both trying to box usyk and trying to slugfest with are both the wrong gameplan, the perfect gameplan for joshua would be to stop making himself smaller by leaning forward, he needs to stand tall, use his height advantage, jab alot and keeps distance, standing tall and keeping diatance will make usyk frustrated and give him difficult time to land single jab, so the BEST plan is to keep distance and stay behind long jab in most of rounds, while also mixing up with bursts of quick but powerful combinations, enough to earn usyk's respect, so usyk can't try to close gap and come inside, and if usyk comes inside, he needs to lean on him, grap him and maul him like fury to a point he feels the weight adv and gets tired and frustrated.

Exactly this. I don’t think it’s about going all guns blazing from the off and trying to get him out of there within the first few rounds, nor is it about scoring points. Throw with mean intentions when the opportunity presents itself, use controlled aggression, and put a dent in him. Needs to throw spiteful combos with the mentality that the first couple might not land but the next two will.

If AJ has his head right and I’m not sure with that. Even if he thinks he’s gonna get tagged and hurt but he believes he can overcome that he has a chance.
If he shrinks when he gets tagged he’s gonna lose.
If he doesn’t and he bites down….. he’ll win.
One thing people aren’t taking into account is that when AJ landed he hurt Usyk. But he never followed up…… Usyk never felt the affect of that. Especially on the body and Usyk is open to that.
It’s going to depend I think on the opening exchanges. Who lands….. Usyk will weather them better so if he lands on AJ it’s a easier Usyk win. If he doesn’t and AJ does….. if he gets a sniff of a hurt fight early.
He’s going to go for it and it’s whether he can ride the storm.

This is gonna be hard to win. It will be about who wants it more. Usyk is going in with the mindset of he wants to win and lift up his people in Ukrainian by showing that you can win a fight again the bigger and stronger man. But usyk is an extremely determined champion and technically, he's one of the best I've ever seen and I grew up watching Ali vs foreman, this will either end up with an explosive finish or it's going the distance, and if it does, I predict usyk to win unanimously.

Usyk for the win, AJ chasing him around the ring with his right arm up 😂

  • Andrew Doyle
    Andrew Doyle Month ago +1

His footwork is slow and he’s too nice a guy, it’s a one way decision. He can’t recover when he’s been hit and it’s a runaway victory yet again. He’s coming out with the jab for 12 rounds, he needs too be mean and get him out of that ring in 2 otherwise it’s over for me.

Let's face it we all know AJ did not perform well in first fight and we all criticised him ... but he did get to Usyk and bust his face up. Take confidence from that.

    • Jason
      Jason Month ago

@Tony SA23he did not. He's gun shy since the first Ruiz fight. Usyk schooled him in terms of ring IQ and manipulation. AJ's best performance may have been against Parker. In terms of control and maintaining the distance. In terms of sheer spectacle it's probably against Whyte or Kiltshko.

AJ had the best fight of his life against Usyk but simply isnt on the same level as Usyk.

I admire Joshua's confidence. But just unlucky for him he's come up against a truly skilfull usyk.
This is the end of Joshua's heavyweight campaign.

@Scots man Agreed. But don't forget that George Foreman's comeback started at 39 and culminated in him winning the championship at 45.

    • Scots man

@Manos para vida yes he was the champion. But still klitschko was 41 yrs old. At that age and especially heavyweights they lost a lot of attributes. Joshua was 27 young and fresh. Joshua would never stand a chance with a younger klitschko.
