that redbull doesn't even need DRS, when you see how quickly max was able to chase down the pack. its pretty much nailed on max & Sergio will be 1 & 2 in drivers champiosnship, hope we get some hamilton V rosberg racing

The order of the top 10 was set by lap 25 and very quickly none of the cars were within 2 seconds of each other. An absolute snooze from there. Apart from Stroll's breakdown, the top 5 teams all finished in pairs. Despite F1's best efforts the gaps between the teams seem as wide as ever and the only reason to watch the season is for Perez v Max, which Max will surely win.

@AB How did Hamilton earn 90% of his? Is it earn when your car need to be tuned down not to be too fast. Still managed to lose a title to a nobody of a team mate. (Nobody in terms of legendary drivers)

  • Chris C

Strolls overtake on Sainz was excellent. He may have got to F1 with family money but he's a good racer in his own right and deserves his seat.

    • Isa Mustafi
Isa Mustafi 2 months ago +4

Agreed. I had my doubts about him but, he's really grown on me on and off track. He deserves his seat and I don't think anyone can argue he's gifted it anymore.

    • Luke Noonan
      Luke Noonan 2 months ago

I don't think he's like a Latifi or a Mazepin. But in fairness, Russell was able to break DRS and get about a 4 or 5 second gap before the first pit stops in a car that is clearly worse. He's an averagely good driver who has a seat because his dad bought a team for him let's be honest.

    • Vital Link
Vital Link 2 months ago +1

@Luke Noonan How long have you been watching F1? Cause the vast majority of drivers past and present come from money. Buying a seat isn't a new thing. 😂
Regardless. If I was as rich as Lawrence Stroll, I'd bankroll my sons racing career and make his dream a reality, and I wouldn't give 2 hoots what anyone said either.

Verstappen was in a rocket ship.....hardly a superb performance when your car is over a second quicker than everyone except your team mate and a spurious safety car allows you to make up the deficit.

      Lanziio 2 months ago

@Bob Stirling not his problem the car is good, and we’ve seen in many races how much faster he can be than perez which shows he’s still a fast driver, by that logic hamilton and schumacher are overrated as well

George outdid Lewis, Lance and the Ferraris on merit. Fair play.

Last time I checked a failure outdid Lance

    • GameOfEnder
      GameOfEnder 2 months ago

@SebB Pulled away from Lance who had DRS. So he looked better than Stroll.

    • GameOfEnder
      GameOfEnder 2 months ago

@S R Except Lewis had mediums Vs George’s hards. And the Ferrari is “supposedly” faster and George is (according to some) not as good as either driver. I disagree obviously.
But it’s earned to say he did it on merit.

    • valkenburgert
      valkenburgert 2 months ago +4

@GameOfEnder Everybody else were driving experimental setups, that’s why.
Lewis is clearly the best but he’s working for the team. That’s why he was slower.

    • S R
      S R 2 months ago +1

@GameOfEnder Well I find it hard to say any one driver is objectively better than another since there's just way too many variables, biggest one being the car. That aside, Lewis was catching George thus the radio talk began, but I imagine the team didn't want Lewis ahead since the medium tyre would've fell off a lot earlier and they would have swapped back positions. Better to not lose time fighting for something that's going to be undone anyways. Not taking it away from George at all, he did the job and that's why he's a good driver. I just don't think he made that position on pure merit.
Edit: not really sure what happened with Leclerc tbh, after being done in by the safety car the live feed completely forgot about his existence so idk what happened

@Bio 73 You can hardly complain when Mercedes has spent more than any other team the last 10 years. Can't punish 1 team for doing what another has done for many years

    • Isa Mustafi
Isa Mustafi 2 months ago +3

@Bio 73 Except they got fined $7M (3x the overspend) and 10% of wind tunnel time which will definitely hurt them later on in the season (for new upgrades and for the 2024 car development)when it will actually be enforced. This definitely counteracts the overspending they did ($1.8M). This was a very firm punishment and I don't think anyone argued that it was soft.

Lewis's strategy made no sense 20 laps on full tank and hard tyres from 7th, no one looking to compete does that. Lewis's hard tyre best stint always come after 1st stint. Then he had to look after medium on 30 laps. So weird tyre call.

That wasnt the reason he lost out on a podium. He came third even after serving the penalty, but when serving his mechanics touched the car during the penalty which resulted in Alonso losing out. Aston Martin's fault

All the Mercedes powered cars seem to lack top end speed, even the Williams. Drag is one reason but not the only reason for their poor V-max. I suspect the the Merc engine is now probably the worse engine of the four for power. They are reliable, just not powerful enough.

Perhaps it’s just me that thinks todays spectacle looked like a video game without the excitement. Any one of those fabulous drivers placed in one of those Red Bull’s would win , it’s all so predictable these days and that equates to utter boredom, for me! Im in my 6th decade now and F1 is just not what it was , too many rules. The Alonso issue is just the tip of the iceberg. It’s all got way to moneyed and safe. It’s not F1,s fault,, it’s just the way everything is going in this so called modern world.

What a race... Red bull cars are total different from other cars... The way Max pass Hamilton is like horse standing... Nothing left from Lewis.. He can't even catch up with veteran Alonso...
He should pack up since last season...

    • Charlie Rennie
      Charlie Rennie 2 months ago

So Lewis should pack up because he got overtaken by a car a second faster than the rest of the field and couldn’t catch up to a car that is also significantly faster than his driven by one of the best drivers of all time.

@Charlie Rennie my point of view is...he should retire while is high...May be his plan is to retire while is low...he won't get that 8th title...even mic shumy did a mistake to come back after a retirement...was low key for him and embarrassing to see other drivers overlapping him..including Lewis..

I want Bottas back as a teammate of Lewis so I can continue pretending how amazing Lewis is.
Now it’s painful, he lost to Rosberg, Bottas was great and now the youngster Russell is destroying Lewis. It becomes hard here, hard to create a storyline where Lewis is amazing.
    BBB! Bring Bottas Back!

Horner just never sound genuine when complementing Checo compared to Verstappen. I’m wishing Perez best of luck this season and maybe even a title.

how obvious is it that the driver has nothing to do with the championship. They’re all finishing in pairs. 2 redbull followed by 2 mercs, 2 ferraris etc etc

Boring GP and absolute mess demoting Alonso off the podium. You'd think they'd have told Aston about the penalty before the race ended. That alone should void the penalty, should've been decided in the race but obviously this off site VAR system is absolute crap and does nothing. Should've been at most 5 second penalty but they had to match Ocon Bahrain penalty so they don't look stupid as they gave a overly harsh penalty for Ocon.
