@Michael I Michael, I don't recall me saying that you disputed the winner. Also, I believe I said that you insinuated I was a fool. But, pissing matches are undoubtedly a fruitless endevour. It was great dicussing the fight with a fellow fight fan. Hopefully, we'll have some great fights in the future to discuss. I am particularly interested in Usyk/Joshua II. I believe the outcome will be the same, but in HW boxing, you never know.

    • Michael I
      Michael I Year ago

@Rosewood Steel I don’t remember disputing the fact that Fury won the fight, I only said he had a huge size advantage in his favor which he exploited, full marks to him. I don't understand why people are so riled up about it.
Also, I didn’t call you a fool, it was conditional... I said "if you believe size and reach are meaningless in a fight, you must be a fool". Anyways the better man won the fight.

    • Rosewood Steel
      Rosewood Steel Year ago

@Michael I Michael, I don't consider myself a fool and frankly resent the implication. Let me rephrase it. Size is unlimited in the heavyweight division, so if you are a heavyweight, you can't use size or reach advantage as an excuse for losing. Hopefully we can we agree on that. You implied that there had never been such a weight disadvantage in a Championship fight. I proved you wrong with an example. You want me to dig up other examples, after I proved you assertion wrong? I'll leave that to you if you are still curious about it. Fury cheerleaders? My friend, I watched a fight and saw one great fighter beat another. Fury won the fight. End of story.

    • Michael I
      Michael I Year ago

@Rosewood Steel Dude I just gave my opinion and Fury cheerleaders are having a meltdown, crying and tagging me non stop trying to force me to accept that size doesn’t matter in a fight.
If you think size and arm reach are meaningless in a fight you must be a fool. I think the rules should be changed.. if a 147lbs guy isn't allowed to fight a 154lbs guy, it makes no sense that a ~240lbs guy should be giving up 40lbs to fight a 280lbs guy. This point is so simple, I don't understand why some cretins are being too obtuse to understand it.
I'm sure if Fury had to give up 40lbs to Wilder he would definitely have lost, so size was definitely a factor in his favor, he used his weight to lean on and put wilder in a headlock. Valuev has nowhere near the boxing ability of Fury, and he certainly didn’t use ruffhouse tactics like leaning his weight on Haye using headlocks in a boxing match.
The fact that you only have one example shows it rarely ever happens, the good big guy usually beats the good small guy. Haye deployed a hit and run tactic, he avoided Valuev all fight and barely any punches were thrown by both fighters. Wilder wasn't going the win his belt back by running around the ring avoiding Fury. Not an apt comparison.

I laughed when Wilder said " I am not a man of excuses." After the last fight , there was nothing but excuses from him. And even in this excerpt he questioned the slow count. I feel this was an excellent effort by both fighters and ,no excuses, will go in the record books as one of the greatest fights of all time.

In a pre fight interview with Tyson, he said Wilder will return to his normal way of fighting instead of following instructions from his corner, Tyson was spot on it played out exactly as he said!! After about the third or fourth round I think it was Wilder stopped his body shots and reverted to head shots!!

respect to both fighters. Say what you want about wilder, he might make a lot of excuses after he loses, but when he’s in the ring especially in this third fight, he did EVERYTHING he could to try to win and not get finished. You gotta respect the heart he had in there trying not to go down when there were numerous times he was so wobbly and about to tip over, and then when he got knocked down, to get up numerous times until the last one where he was absolutely out, he STILL didn’t just lay down in the ring after he got ko’d, he got up pretty fast for getting knocked out the way he did.

  • SomethingThatScreams

If Wilder had behaved this way after all 3 fights he would have a lot more fans and a lot more respect. But I guess a draw is much easier for him to accept than defeat. It's just a little sad that he showed no respect to Fury after the 3rd one. To me, that's one thing that really separates him from the greats.

Congratulations to Tyson. God, he’s got talent. Great job. Great fight, but it takes 2 to tango. Don’t know why Deontay made all those excuses. When you give everything you’ve got you don’t owe anybody anything. Lowered himself by making excuses when he, like a true warrior, laid everything he had on the line. He was beaten by a better fighter. I think everyone will agree he is one hell of a warrior. There were two warriors in the ring that night. That was one hell of a fight.

I just look at it that they are both extremely competitive, it’s always difficult to handle a loss when you push to be the best. If they weren’t like that, they wouldn’t push it to that level. It was a awesome fight, both fighters gave their best, you can’t ask for more than that. Fury is just a plain freak of nature! If anything, I personally think Tyson didn’t look as slick in movement as he usually does. Maybe because the extra weight or other issues? But still good enough to WIN!

Still excusing himself from just saying Fury was the better man. People like that are never the peoples champion. Look at all the champions that are loved by the masses, they all share the ability to be extremely humble. Wilder cares more about trying to look cool, glad he lost like he did because thats exactly what I had called about this 3rd fight. I knew after the 2nd fight, Fury had the whole recipe. Then comes in first conference with headphones and glasses to avoid every excuse he made haha, yo. Just remember the universe rewards authenticity.

That was the second time you mean, the first knock down he didn't even touch him. The right hand rocked Fury a bit, but he was stable. But, we all know theirs always someone rougher, tougher than fighters we've seen. Personally, the fight definitely was everything and all that. My guy lost, and that's okay. He just didn't lay down and give it away. He gave it, as well as taking it.The winner had to earn the win. The Gypsy King did just that. I'm looking forward to seeing both fighters in the future. I hear you. I was rooting for Wilder because he is my countryman but I thought Fury was gonna win if I'm being honest. He's my favorite heavyweight right now. There's no one in this weight class who can beat him right now in my opinion. Wilder probably had the best chance because he has the right hand to knock him out with. But he needs work on his skill set in order to land it on a guy like Fury enough to take him out. I would say Wilder redeemed himself in this fight but he's already making excuses. But he did fight a fantastic fight. He knocked fury down more than once and nobody but Wilder can do that right now I don't think.

I hate hearing him and seeing him in action hurts my eyes. That footwork, thise windmills, those drunk punches when trying to deliver a combination. The only bixing like move is when he unleash his righthand. But other than that. No sign of the art of boxing at all.

Wilder did great in the 1st. And actually won it. Tyson won all the others except for the round he was knocked down twice in. Wilder wasn't conditioned at all and his defense was terrible. He got exposed. He needs a coach for conditioning alone along with his training. Bottom line, he got his ass whipped. Glad he didn't get hurt permanently.

  • Tela
    Tela Year ago

But in truly speaking Fury had advantage all over Wilder. He was heavier, longer reach, height and started boxing ealier than Wilder, thus has better boxing skills. So there was no way Wilder could beat him and Fury might as well be the Best heavyweight champion now because he has no match at all. Joshua and Usyk is going to be knocked out within 3 rounds I assure you...

For sure, because of their willingness to win both fighter made a great performance. This alone does not make it a fight of all time. Both fighters were slow and heavy. Especially Wilder's lack of foot work and head movements made him an easy target. He took too easily many punches from his opponent.
This fight is not close to the fight of the century beetween Ali & Frazier or Ali & Foreman, Tyson vs Douglas etc...

I always say the same , no one in the history of fighting rather ufc or boxing or street fight has ever gotten up after their eyes role back in their head. I highly doubt that fury is the only fighter
that posses the ability to get up like he was hypnotized . and in both fights aside from that
this topic is also that fury count time when down seem be delayed by 3-5 seconds

Unfortunately for him, Fury want give him a rematch, he has proven himself, I think that their should be a super heavyweight divsion, Fury was way too big for wilder, and Wilder still have him the business, but to me just as other divisions, light weight super lightweight, welterweight, super welterweight, the weight needs to be in a fair parameter, 30 obs heavier than your opponent is a joke.

Wilder met his match in Fury. He’s got a crushing right hand and that’s what saved him in round 12. But up until round 12, Fury was clearly ahead on points. Fury is superhuman, how he got up from that punch is beyond belief. Wilder mush have thought he was hallucinating when he saw Fury get up. That punch would have flattened a horse! These guys have to fight again and soon. They respect each other and that’s good to see.

Meet his match? If we're not counting the knock outs (Btw Tyson delivered 3 knock outs while Wilder only delivered 2) Fucking Tyson demolished the wanker by score alone correct me if I'm wrong but Tyson had 40 more points than Wilder's. While Tyson only had a bump on his head, Wilder was bleeding from his mouth and both of his eyes are almost closed. Tyson is not Wilder's match, he's out of his league.

Wilder relied, for most of his career, on a powerful right shot. He turned out to be a fair boxer only - he did not deserve the world title belts he wore. And he is not liked - regarded by most as an mouth piece. He got a beating from the great Tyson Fury. Wilder is retired. The world of boxing is better off.

So he says no excuses and then complained about the slow count and Fury being slippery, then after the second fight used every excuse known to man and even invented some. Worst part of all this is when he said after the fight you respect the man and day good fight and then after the 3rd fight he says I don't respect you and doesn't shake hands🤦🏾‍♂️ wilder needs to look into the mirror.

This was an embarrassing performance from Wilder and his people!!
#1. There was no strategy to win!
#2. There was no jabs being thrown to setup anything! Throwing 1 punch at a time and sometimes combinations. But mainly 1 punch for the knock out.
#3. Wilder was supposed to be in better shape!! Tyson came into the fight at 277 lbs......... 25+ lbs over from the last fight!!
#4. Tyson called him a bitch twice before the fight begin.
#5. Wilder could have won the fight by sticking and moving to tyson left. But he kept backing up into Tyson fury punches. He kept putting himself in front of Tyson's punches...
#6. He let Tyson bully him the whole fight. He let tyson establish his style and let him determine how the fight was going to be fought!!!
#7. His trainers suck!!!! No adjustments during this fight and from the previous fights!!!!
    I would fired everyone!!!!!
The only good thing is Wilder did get paid!!!
